About the Basic Engineering
The department of basic engineering at Government Polytechnic College believes in a holistic approach for the well-being of the newly admitted students. An enthusiastic bunch of student-friendly faculty members is the first port of contact for the first-year students. A fantastic trustworthy bond between the students and staff is an experience that could be cherished forever by both of them. The department offers basic level programs in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English to all the first year diploma streams. This department extends its helping hands to students and enables them to be a part of the world of creativity and innovation.
The department of basic engineering is well equipped with physics lab, chemistry lab and Language Lab not only to embed scientific aptitude in the students but also for the dissemination of the knowledge. Understanding the language and to effectively communicate in English, following the contemporary International approach, guidance and supervision are provided. It equips the students with a very solid and fundamental knowledge in Science to enhance technical understanding. The perseverance of the department makes students employable and get into higher-level job portfolio.

Laboratories
Physics Lab
• In order to develop best skills in handling Instruments/Equipment and taking readings in the practical classes, every student should be provided with a separate experimental setup for doing experiments in the laboratory.
• Engineering physics practical classes provides the students who have completed their 10th standard education, the fundamental concepts about engineering oriented physics related topics.
Chemistry Lab
• The knowledge of Engineering chemistry is quite essential in the development of the industry. Modern development of industries requires more understanding of materials. Engineering chemistry explains various aspects with regard to environment, fuels, metals, alloys and polymers.
• Our chemistry lab is well equipped with good lighting, ventilation, water facility and heating facility. In case of emergency we have first aid kit and also fire extinguisher. We impart both intellectual skills and motor skills to our student which is very essential to work in the industry. In our chemistry laboratory the student are taught both quantitative (Volumetric) and qualitative (Salt) analysis.
English Lab
• Academics have always been seen as the gateway to good career opportunities and professional growth.
• English as a skill has been identified as the hallmark of personal and professional success and this realization has brought its teaching through our Communication Skills in English Laboratory.
• A Curriculum catering to all the language skills, Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. English Language Laboratory facilitates to meet the necessary parameters with systems and software installed.
